About Shellway

Shellway is a developer tool that puts an AI co-pilot directly inside your terminal. Instead of context-switching to a chat window, you stay in your shell and ask questions, run commands, diagnose failures, and automate tasks — all without leaving the environment where the work actually happens.

Why we built this

Every developer knows the pattern: you hit an error, open a browser tab, describe the error to an AI, copy-paste output back and forth, then manually run the suggested commands. It works, but the friction adds up.

Shellway eliminates that loop. The AI sees your shell's context — the working directory, recent output, environment variables — and acts directly. One command. No copy-paste. No tab-switching.

What makes Shellway different

• Context-aware — Shellway reads your terminal state before responding, so answers are specific to your actual environment, not a generic approximation.
• Action-oriented — Ask Shellway to run something, and it runs it. With your confirmation, naturally.
• Privacy-first — Your shell output is never stored. We send only what's needed for the AI to respond, and nothing is logged on our side.
• Works everywhere — macOS, Linux, and Windows (WSL). If you have a terminal, Shellway runs there.
